RIDING THE DRAGON--New Moon in Leo
by Isis Ward
Today's New Moon, which will flavor the whole month, especially up to
the Full Moon in Aquarius, explodes with a marvel of sights and sounds
and tastes. It is less that new things are available, than that the energy
of a stellium in Leo (Mars, Sun, Moon, Vesta and Jupiter line up) invites
us to fully inhabit our days and nights. "Seize life with your arms, legs
and teeth and ride!" they cry. And so we grab on, seeing more, tasting
more, feeling more.
On with the flashy clothes, pour the expensive wine and sing out your
truth, bedamned to any who offer censure! Gone is the Cancerian inward
journey. Voila!~Here is the expression of the journey's results. "Oh,
I shouldn't," is replaced by, "If not me, than who?" We desire to live
like kings, ever in the limelight, receiving the best and...responsibly?
Here is the lesson unique to this time: Everybody has an important voice,
everybody has a piece of the truth, and everybody wants to express it.
One can act as a beautiful mirror, but if the being you are reflecting
insists on the plaid pants, there is nothing you can do about it. Nor
should you care. The flip side of the Leonine energy augmented by Mars
and Jupiter is the intense desire to be right/righteous.
Very tricky because if one cares more about being right than being happy,
one misses the exuberant joy available during the Leo season. Don't assume
you are right, don't assume that you are not heard simply because the
person you are speaking with doesn't act according to your views. Attaching
to the outcome will only suck on your life force, a force which you could
use to fully experience the moment with joyous abandon.
Mercury in Virgo starts us scrutinizing our own and others' actions while
Uranus and Neptune in Aquarius demand great loyalty and inspiration towards
Truth. If we must express and experience this truth, we must avoid doing
so to achieve a self-focused outcome. Vesta in Leo asks us to act in service
to the heart, to divine expression. For that service we cannot expect
a particular payment. If we want love and admiration, we must swallow
our pride and ask for it. But that which we give cannot have a price on
it, such as recognition, or celebration. Our motivation must be purely
out of celebration of life, celebration of the indwelling divine we experience
in every moment.
How can we best connect with the Divine in order to give it expression
and celebration. The answer is simple, like stalking and riding a dragon.
We must bring our awareness fully into the moment, not let it go crashing
around the forest of what if. Then, we must, holding our awareness, give
full and unusual expression to our deepest truth. This strange and fascinating,
almost un-human behavior will immediately attract the attention of all
local dragons, causing them to show themselves while we, flag dancing,
singing bawdy songs and generally making a scene, can climb right onto
their necks and go for a ride.
The dragon is your life force. For the most part, we dissociate from
it by allowing our attention to wander and tangling ourselves up in self-important
activities...such as giving advice, or contemplating the many ways we
have been wronged. All of our energy can be dissipated this way. Or we
can pull it all into this current moment and act creatively. This New
Moon stellium in Leo invites us to do just that.
