Insight Into Boundaries: New Moon in Pisces This New Moon sits in Pisces, a water sign ruled by Neptune, the expansive planet of consciousness--or lack thereof. Mercury also traverses Pisces, allowing our communication to become very touchy-feely, just like our current emotional and ego selves. Some people love this. Neptune itself is floating through Aquarius, feeling a groovy open-minded love for his fellow man. Saturn, who normally puts a stop to all the free love if it can't at least pay the bills, is enjoying himself with new ideas from Gemini. Meanwhile, Jovial Jupiter rolls through Cancer, spreading his goodwill by nurturing others. We are in a soup of love, but while some of us drink freely and swim about, some are drowning and others only hyperventilate, noticing that they cannot find the ground. While our love soup seems like it can only be wonderful and beneficial for us (mostly true), we should take note that Mars is in Taurus and Venus in Aries. In other words, the volatile planets of desire and will are in very self-involved signs. The atmosphere we experience is one which encourages a larger perception, alternative thinking and illusions as well as insight. Classic Piscean behavior does not know when enough is too much, and frankly, neither does that of Gemini or Cancer. On the plus side, huge realizations and transcending previous belief systems becomes more possible than ever before in any of our lifetimes. On the minus, it is easier now than ever before to get lost in self indulgent, escapist behavior. Like eating marshmallows and watching "Buffy." If you do both together, you are definitely a Pisces. Either behavior on its own is probably harmless. The main challenge arises when we lose our sense of boundaries. Pisces is notorious for this--yin Pisces can't grasp its own boundaries and yang Pisces cant imagine that any one else would have any boundaries that mattered. On an interpersonal level, this lack of perception can be disturbing. On a transcendental level, it is absolutely True. We are all one. You are no more separate from me than my breath. And here you are in cyberspace, imagining yourself an independent creature!! And check out cyberspace--is it a real space? But then what is real. If you are actually following me through this, you are feeling very Piscean right about now. Dude. What is real? One sees how real/not real, TRUTH/illusion coexist intimately at this level. Throw into the mix self-will and drive (Mars in Taurus), action and self focused desire and action (Venus in Aries), with a dollop of sensitivity and hidden psychic expansiveness (Jupiter in Cancer). What we get is one big psychic opening wherein we can easily be overwhelmed. Self and Not Self become increasingly blurry, as do healthy and unhealthy. The desire to know TRUTH is felt equally with the opposite desire to check out via any number of tools or substances. The desire to know Self as part of the Divine is felt equally with the much more interesting desire to know Other as part of the Divine. (Other is far more manageable than self, you may have noticed.) How to manage the mish-mosh without losing sight of Truth, possibility or wholeness? Firstly, do not check out. Stay grounded by repeatedly consciously feeling your body, rooting into the Earth, paying attention to, but not getting caught in your senses. Allow into your consciousness that you Are part of something larger than your ego self, that you are in constant communication with all of the world via your breath. Allow yourself to consider your intuitions and "knowings" as truth...but without bias. Observe them without needing to have them be right. These are steps that will allow for keeping the increased awareness that comes with the current planetary alignments. See the meditation for more tools to assist with this.
